Show and Tell: A Day in the Life

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

One day I will look back on these days where nothing too special or out of the ordinary happened and miss them so. :)
Here is Wednesday, April 13, 2016 documented!
7:27 am wake up call... please trust me... this is a rare occasion. I got to sleep in on this particular day, which was awesome!
First things first... check on my babies...
...then make my bed! :)
Next head downstairs as Justin hops in the shower to let Holden out.
And more importantly, make my cup of coffee!
Then I made Justin's lunch as I do every morning! He eats alot. Haha!
After that's all finished, I head to the computer to catch up with all of you and post on the blog for the day. I love this me time in the morning to get my day going!

When the kiddos start squirming, I get them their morning milk and they watch Curious George.
...so that I can make them breakfast! This morning was pancakes and strawberries!
I catch a quick shower by 9...
...then head down to prep morning snacks for our morning out!
After the kids' snacks are packed, I tackled the job of dressing them for the day. Why does this always take forever?!
Now we headed to the bounce house with friends for the morning! Gotta burn some energy!
But before we get there, I stopped at the store to pick up some produce for dinner!
Elena and Ty love mornings at the bounce house! And I love the naps that follow!
By noon, we are home eating lunch! Elena is already snoozing away!
I had left over grilled chicken and salad for lunch!
Once I laid Ty down for his nap, I headed back to the computer for some photo editing!
This night was my night for the meal swap, so I made dinner during nap time. Thanks, Mix and Match Mama for this Mexi Mac and Cheese recipe! It was delish!
Here is my friend's dinner all ready for delivery!
I got just a few minutes of relaxation before Elena woke up for the afternoon!
She literally gave me moments of relaxation. If you look closely the monitor is already going off!
After both kids woke up, we had afternoon snacks and headed to the local strawberry patch to pick fresh strawberries for the rest of the week!
They LOVE picking strawberries!
After we got home, we had some time to play outside, deliver dinner, and then come in for dinner by 5:30 when Justin got home.
After dinner, I got to leave for an appointment and Justin took the kids for a hike by the neighborhood playground! Ty loves hiking with his dad.
After my appointment, I had a few minutes to catch up on some DVR before the kiddos got home.
Bath and bed for them...
... and some quality time with my hubby to top off the day! I am usually out by 10 at the LATEST!!
I had so much fun with this show and tell Tuesday! I love my job! :)

My Life's Mix Tape

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Happy Tuesday! It's time for show and tell and I thought this would be a fun link up to participate in! If my life had a mix tape, these are (a few of ) the songs that would be playing on it.

The Childhood Years

Red Red Wine by UB40

My daddy would sing this when I was young and for some reason it's the one song that makes me think about him. It reminds me of growing up in Baltimore and having no care in the world.

Come to My Window by Melissa Etheridge

On the way to school each morning, my sisters, dad, and I would blare Melissa Etheridge and sing at the top of our lungs. If the song wasn't over when we got to school, my dad would pull over to the side of the road so we could finish it.

Another Night by Real McCoy

After school every day I would meet the neighbors outside and we would roller blade around the neighborhood. One of the girls got a CD of The Real McCoy and it soon became our anthem as she played it in the boom box each day.

You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

Every childhood Christmas Eve was spent with family and watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  It's the best watching my own kids love it as much as I do!

The Teenage Years

Backstreet's Back by Backstreet Boys

My best friends and I were die hard BSB fans. We would stay up until the wee hours of morning making up dances to the latest BSB songs and dreaming about our favorite member falling madly in love with us. Totally normal teenage girl behavior.
Also on the teenage year playlist: Wannabe by the Spice Girls, anything Destiny's Child, BBMak, Ace of Base... I love pop culture.

The Adult Years

Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars

The night Justin proposed we returned from Asheville's gorgeous Biltmore Estate to an engagement party at a cabin we were staying at. My closest friends and family had this song playing on loop. It will always remind me of Justin and when he popped the question.

Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO

This song was on the top of the billboards when I had my bachelorette party and got married. It got my wedding party pumped for a big night of dancing.

Whatever It Is by Zac Brown Band

Our wedding song. I still love the lyrics to this day. We will be married 5 years in July!

African Queen by 2Face

My good friend made Justin and I a CD as a gift for us to listen to on the way to our honeymoon.  We went to Jamaica and they had just been and purchase this CD from Jamaica. This song was one of our favorites and its Jamaican feel always takes me back. I love to play it on a summer day in the car with all the windows down.

Love Like Crazy by Lee Brice

For this stage in our life, this song is almost perfect. When Justin and I spoke at the marriage retreat a few weeks ago, we had to choose a song for the participants to listen to afterwards. We spoke about seeing Christ in each other and seeing love in the small, everyday moments of our lives.  Now, married with two kids and one on the way, these lyrics are a good reminder for us in all the small daily moments we have. I love this song and where life has taken me so far.

I have a very eclectic mix tape on my hands.  Looking back at all these songs makes me so nostalgic.  It's amazing how music can transport you over time!

Decking the Schneider halls!

I'm linking up with Andrea for a Christmas decoration Show and Tell and with Alisha, Jess, and Amy for Bits of Cheer! I love Christmas sharing!

This year my most favorite addition to our house for Christmas was Elena's stocking. I actually ordered it months ago and have had it out to admire it for weeks.  When we finally hung all four stockings up I was doing a happy dance! I love a FULL mantle of stockings!!
My kids favorite part of the house is definitely the train around the Christmas tree.  We got this for Ty for his first Christmas because I knew he'd love it. Now it's all he and Elena do when we are home!
This is our tree. I love how most of my red balls are beginning to be replaced by ornaments given to or made by Ty and Elena.
These are all things given to us by our parents. I love the glass nativity scene. Justin mom gave it to me on our first Christmas.

My mom gave us this cute tic-tac-toe game with Santa pieces and snowman pieces.

The Frosty ceramic was painted by my mom before I can remember. Every time I pull it out I remember my childhood Christmases.
The outside of our house was a big deal for Justin this year. He wants to make it the brightest house on the block for the kids.  We added a few things that I mentioned here
Also mentioned in this post was the story behind our little Christmas village.
Besides the ledge that we have the Christmas village on, we had another ledge that I wanted to use. My mom gave us these small Christmas trees and I knew they were perfect for the last empty ledge. This small forest makes it feel like Narnia in our house!
This is my manger scene. My mom gave it to me when I moved out. I love putting it up every year.  He is the reason for the season, after all!
Here are some other small things that bring the Christmas cheer into our home.
We got this ornament the night we got engaged at the Biltmore Estate.
I love having all the Christmas decorations out every year. It's always been my favorite time. I think I was born half human half elf.  Now, though, my favorite part is how excited and happy it makes my kids to see all the decorations in the house each day. And how their eyes light up every time they see Christmas lights. CHRISTMAS CHEER!!!
