Egg dying, newborns, and Easter!

Monday, March 28, 2016

We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating Easter!
On Good Friday, I was able to attempt go to mass thanks to some of my girlfriends for coming with me.  However, it was one of those afternoons where all the stars aligned in favor of my toddlers. They pushed me to the limit and we departed early. Ever felt like you were sinking in restless babies and everyone was looking at you? Yes. That's how I felt. At least I tried, right?
evil toddler kid2 - you think we're going to church on a friday?
Afterwards some of our friends came over for pizza and Friday night hanging.  The weather was pretty so we sat outside and let the kids run around.  It had been a while since we've all been able to hang out together so it was such a welcomed get together!
On Saturday morning, I had a newborn session with a sweet family that I met for maternity pictures a few weeks ago. Little baby Whit was born last Saturday and was only 1 week new when I saw him on Saturday! Here are some of my favorites from our shoot!
After I got home, my sister, Dia came over.  We all dyed Easter eggs with the kids. Ty is the perfect age this year. Elena wanted to come sit close and watch him in action. I never knew how serious the business of egg dying was for Justin. He pulled out all the stops with glitter, paint, and glue.
We had an awesome time... until Ty spilled a whole cup of purple dye all over the kitchen floor. #lifewithatoddler
Ty and Elena ended the night writing the Easter bunny a note and leaving out their carrots for him!
Easter Sunday was busy from the moment we woke until getting home from the in-laws.  The Easter bunny left a trail of eggs for the kids to lead them to their Easter baskets.
Ty thought he had to open each egg, so it took a while before they got to the baskets. Sidenote: there was nothing in those eggs. HAHA.
Elena loved checking out her Easter basket this year. She was only a few weeks old last year, so it was kind of like her first Easter!
I made our Belgium waffle bar and crock pot hash brown casserole with bacon. It was all delicious. The kids loved the waffle bar and the fact that there were sprinkles.
Trying to get a picture with these two is near impossible. But I thought they looked so cute!
After brunch, we went to church and then headed to Justin's parents for the rest of the day. We had such a good time. The kids love being over there and seeing their cousin, Mason. His mom made a huge Italian feast... meatballs and spaghetti, chicken parm, garlic bread.. and I made deviled eggs out of all those dyed eggs.
After lunch we had our Easter egg hunt. The rainy weather didn't stop us. My sister, Jennifer and I hid the eggs in the front yard for the kids and they had a blast getting them all into their baskets!
We didn't get home until late last night and all four of us were exhausted. It was such a wonderful Easter weekend with family and friends. Thank you GOD!

Friday Favorites: Easter Edition

Friday, March 25, 2016

I cannot believe that Easter is only two days away! It came quick this year. Good Friday is such a holy day for so many. THANK YOU, LORD, FOR LOVING US SO MUCH to die on the cross for us.  In two days we can sing ALLELUIA! I've had a great time with my kids this year in prepping for Easter. and getting ready for Spring. Here are my favorites this week!

ONE: Our Easter Bunny Picture

Y'all, I can't help it. This picture cracks me up, Typically, my Elena is the brave one and Ty is terrified of things like the Easter bunny.  She wanted nothing to do with this very sweet looking Easter bunny and Ty was excited to cheese it up for this picture. PS- I LOVE BASS PRO! These free bunny pictures are amazing.

TWO: EASTER BASKET PREP

I think I must be the slackest Easter bunny out there because I am just now putting Ty and Elena's baskets together. I try to keep it somewhat practical, yet fun. Here is what they are getting: Disney DVD (I'm trying to build our collection!), socks, play-dough, toothbrush, window clings, crayons, bath toys, and fruit snacks. What is the Easter bunny bringing to your house?

THREE: SPRING BEDDING

I get so excited to flip my room from Fall/Winter to Spring/ Summer.  I actually made the time this week to change my window treatments and bedding. I found this bedding two years ago at Home Goods and have no desire to get new Spring bedding. I absolutely love this quilt. It brightens up my whole room!

FOUR: EASTER BRUNCH MEAL PREP

I am so excited to make brunch for my family this Easter Sunday. We plan on waking up to see what the bunny brought, reading the Easter story with the kids, enjoying brunch, then heading to church. Afterwards we will spend the rest of the day with family. I love holidays! Here is what I have planned for my brunch menu: Belgium Waffle bar: complete with strawberries, blackberries, whipped cream, Nutella, and hot syrup; Hash Brown casserole: Recipe here! This little boy is having me crave hash browns!; Bacon (of course!)

FIVE: RESURRECTION EGGS

Last week at church nursery we made these cute resurrection eggs with the kids. Ty loved doing this. Each plastic Easter egg was filled with something that tied in with the Easter story. Little minds doing big things!

SIX: GOODBERRY'S BROWNIE SUNDAE

I won't lie. I had to have one of these this week. I think my baby is growing because I just can't get full and this was something that I HAD TO HAVE. Not only did I indulge in this but in place of vanilla custard I got the flavor of the day: DULCE DE LECHE. Sinful.

Have the happiest EASTER!

Easter Egg Hunting, Nesting, and Sunday Suppers OH MY!

Monday, March 21, 2016

We had such a fun-filled weekend to kick off Easter week! On Saturday morning our cul-de-sac had an Easter egg hunt with all the kids. They just loved hunting for eggs and listening to the Easter story!
Ty even won the prize for finding the empty Easter egg!
After the egg hunt on our cul-de-sac, we headed to the neighborhood park for a bigger egg hunt and to meet the Easter bunny! I was so shocked how brave Ty was! He walked right up for a picture with the giant bunny! No sweat!
Elena and Grace loved swinging together.
After our big morning of eggs, bunnies, and food trucks for lunch Justin and I worked on transforming our dining room into a playroom... the first step towards prep for baby number three! I am so excited with how the playroom turned out! Now all of the toys are consolidated to one space and I have some grown up space in my living room again!
On Sunday after Palm Sunday mass, my parents and sister came over for some headshots. Isn't she beautiful?!
Then Frank and Erin came over so that Callan could play with Elena and Ty. These three love hanging out. Ty showed off the new playroom. We ordered some Chinese take out and the kids ate in the playroom. I love easy Sunday nights spent with family!
I'm looking forward to a fun week of Easter prep, playing with friends, and hopefully warm weather again!
